Day 24 Caldas de Reis to Padron

We decided to have a lie in and make the most of the lovely surroundings.

The fiesta last night had been about warding off evil spirits and the tradition is that you have to rinse your face in water soaked with herbs to rinse the evils spirits away.

We got dropped off back in Caldras and Matt and I put our feet in the hot spring as this is a spa town.

That water was really hot.
We were on the road by 1045, we decided to take it slowly as Yottys ankle was still not right.

The usual water stop after 5 miles

On we went, this dog was to be with us for the rest of the walk,we got the feeling he knew the Camino well as he lead the way.

Nice haircut !!

It was proving to be a delightful walk, with mostly tracks, this was a nice introduction for Phil and James  to the Camino .

Yotty holding court telling us a priceless joke about scooter.

On we walked through the lovely Spanish countryside, what is so lovely about walking in a group is you chat to one person then move on unnoticed to another and so on?

Please note the dog .The woods were really beautiful ,  the Camino at its best.

DOB

We walked along the river into Padron ,where Yotty had a wonderful surprise awaiting him, his mother  Louly ( my sister )  and his Godmother Christabell  were waiting to surprise him and walk into Santiago with him.
The scene was set Yotty had his backed turned ,when Louly walked up behind him and called his name, he could hardly believe it , I think it is fair to say we all had a tears in our eyes it was a wonderful Camino moment.

He was too busy taking selfies ( again) to notice what was going on.

One of those great moments money cannot buy, to see the love and pride in Loulys face was a picture. We all were relieved it was over as we were all in on the secret and had let the cat out of the bag on more than one occasion. Louly and Christabell swelled our numbers to 10 and what a happy group of people we were.

We booked into the hotel had a quick swim dinner then bed,we have an early start tomorrow as we want to get into Santiago as early as we can , did I say Santiago ? I cannot believe we are  going to be there tomorrow.

Stats for today.

Walked 13 miles

Total distance covered  355 miles

Distance to Santiago 15 miles.
