Day 16 More Rubber necking in Porto

Yotty woke us up at 0730 as he had dropped his underpants behind our chair and he needed to find them.

He eventually found them and we went downstairs for breakfast then walked into Porto.

Needless to say we headed straight for a cafe as we needed to get the tart tally up.

We then took a tram around the city, what a beautiful form of transport.

It really had been beautifully renovated. The trip lasted around 30 minutes, it was fascinating watching the driver steering it. The whole experience reminded me of a bygone era.

Dog on a blog time.

We then walked across the bridge to the other side of the river.

It was a steep drop down to the river, the views were stunning.

We decided to have a tour of one of the port producers, I have to say we all found it most interesting and learnt a lot. O for some cheese!!!'

What joy when we discovered there was a port tasting at the end of the tour.

By now there was no stopping us; we were in real necking mode so we decided to take a boat trip to see this beautiful city from the river.

We took the funicular back into the city as we felt we had enough walking coming our way over the next two weeks.

Then it was time for lunch

Our time of being tourists is sadly coming to an end and we will shortly become perigrinos again, we went to the cathedral to get Martin his credential.

,

We have really enjoyed our time in Porto, it really is a lovely city and as usual with Portugal the people have been extremely friendly and welcoming. We have eaten well and feel both physically and mentally rested, we shall be sad to leave but the camino is calling us.
Martin arrives at 2300 and we intend to leave from the cathedral at 0600. This will not be a minute too soon for Matt who is really chomping at the bit to get started, I feel a little reserved as my back is still hurting and I have got Sciatica .
We are looking forward to seeing Heather James and  Phil  who will be joining us at various stages as we travel further north.

Stats for today

63 tarts had so far

150 miles to Santiago
