Day 22 Redondela to Pontevedra

Once we had packed, we had breakfast and watched the sun come up.

We were going to let everyone know who we are walking for today.

We were only going to have to walk 11 miles today with the added bonus of clouds in the sky; what joy!
You are in for a real treat today with the dog on a blog.

It took us about 30 minutes to get to Arcade.

We crossed over yet another stunning bridge into Desvio.

We were soon walking on tracks and climbing steeply .

You have waited long enough for dog on a blog, I would have loved to have bought this little beauty home.

When we reached the top we met a really nice Spanish chap selling cans of drink. He recommended an alernative route to avoid the main road into Pontevedra, he was to be proved right later.

The scenery was so beautiful, we walked slower than usual to take it all in. There was no urgency as we were not trying to beat the sun.

We came to the turning we had been told to take and were rewarded with a beautiful walk through woodland alongside a stream teeming with fish.

We had to take our boots off and put our aching hot feet into the stream.

The walk in was like entering any city, note yellow arrow on road.

Camino routes always take you past the church or cathedral of any town village or city you enter.

We had lunch in a really lovely tapas bar.

The Camino had claimed yet another victim, poor Heather and welcome to the club!!!

Sitting on another table was Colin, an ex pat, who offered to give us a tour of this beautiful city.

We walked around the city for over an hour, we were very lucky to have met Colin our own personal guide, we are seeing him tomorrow night for dinner.

We went back to the bar for a quick drink and Matt had a snooze.

It was time to get two taxis to take us to our hotel, where Matt had a bath

And Yotty had a snooze, then another. It was all catching him up, hardly surprising he as been walking for nearly a month!!! What a star, some might say legend.

We had dinner at the hotel and probably had a little too much to drink

Another great day was had by all on the Portuguese Camino.
We welcome Phil and James who will be joining us tomorrow night to walk the final two days into Santiago.

Stats

Walked 11 miles.

If you have been moved by our efforts and would like to support this wonderful cause, just go to Just Giving and type in Peter Hulme, every bit helps and thank you to those who have donated so generously thus far, I promise we have earnt it!!!

BUEN CAMINO !!!!!!
